Kernersville - Pastor Michael K. Smith, 52, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 31, 2010 as he was surrounded by his wife, sons, mother, and Elders. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 1:00PM Saturday, September 4, 2010 at St. Stephen United Church of Christ with Rev. Eric Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. A native of Kinston, Pastor Smith was the son of Lillian Smith Sutton and Napoleon Sutton. At age 11, he moved to Greensboro and attended Allen Jr. High School and graduated from Dudley High School Class of ’76. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and Philosophy from Shaw University in May 1999. He currently was Pastor of “In His Hand Worship Center” in Kernersville. Fondly and affectionately known as “Libb” to his family and close friends, Pastor Smith was truly blessed with a wonderful congregation of believers left to cherish his memory. Survivors include his loving wife Dora Jean Miller Smith of the home; sons Michael K. Smith, Jr. and Marcus Kyle Smith both of Greensboro; parents Lillian Smith Sutton and Napoleon Sutton of Greensboro; aunts Rosa McCoy, Mary Smith, Dorothy Sutton, Hattie Whitfield, Anna Bell Carr, Ethel Edwards, and Melvia Thompson all of Kinston, and Sylvia Dunn of Cleveland, Ohio; uncle Jolly Smith of Kinston; great-aunt Ruth Smith of Kinston; and a host of extended family and friends. Greensboro- William Horace “Bill” Voss, Jr., 50, died August 31, 2010. A Celebration of his life will be held 6:00PM Friday evening, September 3, 2010 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service. The family will visit with friends following the service at the funeral home. A native of Forsyth County, he was the son of the late Blake Stafford and Norman Teague. “Shady Grady”, as he was affectionately referred, was retired after 35 years of service as a truck driver with Motor Convoy. He loved NASCAR racing, working on a farm, but truly was an animal lover as they loved him. Kernersville– Barbara May Lambert, 73, died at home on Monday, August 16, 2010. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Barbara was the daughter of the late Russell Pullen and Iva Turnquist. She was a member of the Fountain of Life Lutheran Church and also a member of several clubs including the Kernersville Women's Club and the Newcomers Club. She was retired from the Guilford County Public Health Department. Barbara became an accomplished watercolor painter and was also an avid bridge player. She also greatly enjoyed traveling and many of her paintings reflect her travels. Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, James Raymond Lambert; her sons, Thomas William Lambert and wife, Alane, from Charlotte and David Michael Lambert and wife, Liz (GiGi) of Greensboro; her sisters, Marilyn Masten of Arcadia, MI and Susan Pullen of Grand Rapids, MI; her grandchildren, James and Christopher Lambert of Charlotte and Malina and Tabitha (Abi) of Greensboro, and step-granddaughter, Alyssa Balmas of Charlotte. Kernersville - Dorothy “Dot” Miller Pegram, 95 passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, where she has been a member for 75 years, with Pastor Patricia Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Forsyth County, she was born November 11, 1914 to the late Ethel Sapp and Marcus B. Miller. Dot was married October 8, 1935 to the late J. Kent Pegram. Together, they started Pegram Oil Company in 1957 and continued their involvement until 1979. Pegram Oil Company is still owned and operated by the Pegram family. After the death of her husband, Dot generously gave her time as a Hospice Volunteer for close to 15 years. She also gave of herself at Bradford Village for several years. Her true passion however was her Hospice service. A Hospice employee, from the time of Mrs. Pegram’s volunteer days, came to see her recently and remarked, “How fitting that she be here now for us to care for her.” She quietly, and humbly, lived her life here on Earth and left it in the same manner. She will be missed by all who knew her, but most certainly will be missed most by her family. In addition to her parents, and husband, she also was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Miller. Survivors include her sons Jerry Pegram and his wife Nancy of Kernersville, and Rev. Steve Pegram and his wife Pat of Winston-Salem; her devoted sister Frances Miller who was her primary caregiver in recent years; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Kernersville - Alfred “AL” Vincent Grecco, 75, quietly left this earth August 3, 2010 as he was surrounded by his loving family. A native of Kings County, New York, Al was born February 5, 1935 to the late Rose D’Aquino and Alfonzo Salvatore Grecco. He lived his life in Middletown, NY, Virginia Beach, VA, Port St. Lucie, Fl, and Kernersville. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Virginia Rose Grecco, and his son Ronald Grecco. To his children he was affectionately known as “Pop”, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Poppy”. He proudly served his Country as a US Marine. He worked for Ford Motor Company for thirty years. To know him was to love him, and certainly his word was his honor. His generosity, his strength, and his pride for family made him a truly wonderful person. As a devout Catholic, he now is reunited with God. Survivors include his loving wife Sylvia Goldstein Grecco; sons Bruce Grecco, and Mark Grecco; step-daughters Lisa B. Quaglia and Robert J., and Jennifer M. Zelvin; brothers Anthony Grecco and Joan, and Thomas Grecco and Christine; grandchildren Steven Michael Grecco and Jennifer, Daniel Grecco, Nicole, Timothy, and Amanda Grecco, Nicolas and Eric Quaglia, and Zakary F. Ward; great-grandchildren Helena Rose Grecco, Steven Michael Grecco, Jr., and Lillian June Grecco; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
