Jo Wright Clark (“Mama Jo”) passed away February 13, 2017, at Shannon Gray Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown. She was born February 16, 1920, to LeRoy and Nathan Wright in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Clark; son, Frank B. Clark, Jr.; daughter, Martha Howell; parents, LeRoy and Nathan Wright; sisters Nell and Sue, and brother Andy and Gene.
After moving to Greensboro from Alabama in 1960 Jo began her career at Traders Chevrolet. She retired in 1983 as a Branch Manager with 1st Home Federal Savings & Loan. Jo was active for many years at Lawndale Baptist Church in Greensboro and later at First Baptist Church in Kernersville.
Jo’s surviving family includes her son, David (Susan) of Kernersville; grandchildren Joe Clark (Leah), Emily Hayden (Chad), Janet Nieto (Ed Tschann), Beth Wilson (Anthony), Jeff Hudgins (Wendy), and Paige Carlisle (Paul). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Kernersville, with burial following at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 12:45 PM in the Church Parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 Oakhurst St., Kernersville, NC 27284, or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
The family would like to thank special friend, Taina Norris, for her loving care and devotion to Mama Jo, and the staff at Shannon Gray Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown for their kind and professional care over the last two years. The family would also like to thank the many friends from First Baptist Church of Kernersville who were so faithful to visit and care for Mama Jo over the years.
