January 13, 1947 ~ February 2, 2018 (age 71)

Dwight Lester Swain, 71, passed away peacefully February 2, 2018.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00PM Monday February 5, 2018 at Kernersville Moravian Church, where he was a member, with Pastor John Rights and Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating. The family will visit with friends until 2:30PM in the church fellowship hall following the service.

A native of Forsyth County, Dwight was the son of the late Martha Sue Ogburn and Clarence William Swain. He graduated from East Forsyth High School Class of ’65 where he lettered in music. Dwight served as an MP with the US Army in Korea. He has served several positions with the VFW Post 5352 in Kernersville. He was a Master of Dry Wall and a perfectionist by nature. He had recently retired as a pharmaceutical technician at Hospice & Palliative Care Center. Dwight truly loved golfing, fishing, and particularly spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 and a half years, Judy Matthews Swain of the home; daughter Amy Sell Mills and the Honorable L. Walter Mills of New Bern; grandchildren Jessica Mills Longshore and John of Greenville, SC, and John Maxwell Mills of New Bern; great-grandchildren Judah Mills Longshore and Magdalene James Longshore; sister Melanie S. Stallings and John of Burnsville, NC; brother Timothy Clarence Swain and Irma of Walkertown; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
