Davis "Brother" Randall Childress

July 15, 1959 ~ March 7, 2018 (age 58)

Brother Randy Childress, 58, went home to be with his Lord March 7, 2018 following a gallant fight with Kidney Cancer.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday March 17, 2018 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will visit with friends from 4:00PM until 8:00PM Friday evening at the church.

A native of Mt. Airy, Randy was born to the late Patricia Ann Montgomery and Jack Davis Childress who survives. Randy was raised by his mother, and the man he would call “Dad”, Charles Curtis Puckett who also survives.

Brother Randy is how he was affectionately referred, was a Missionary with Rock of Ages Ministries to the Philippines. He was brought into Gospel Light Baptist Church as a child through the Bus Ministry. He was saved and called to the Mission Field as a member of Gospel Light church. He would serve families in the Philippines through the Childress Hedge Ministry. The Filipino children they serve live in a dump, cemetery and surrounding areas of Cebu. Randy and his wife Kellie and their two sons, would feed 300 plus children a week, minister the Gospel, and spread God’s word to all they helped.

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years Kellie Blackburn Childress; twin sons Christopher Childress and Christian Childress; step-father Charles Curtis Puckett and Sharon; father Jack Childress; sisters Nancy Childress Williard, Virginia Ann Slater and Robert Slater, and Charles Lorraine Kearns and Earl Wayne Kearns, III; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
