Lee Cornelius Rountree, 83, passed away September 9, 2017.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday September 16, 2017 at Main Street United Methodist Church Historic Chapel with Rev. Dr. Claude Kayler and Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Inurnment will follow, with Military Rites, in the church columbarium.

Lee was born in Red Bank, New Jersey to the late Catherine Grace O’Brien and Howard Braxton Rountree. He served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps. He was married to the late Christine Clark and to the late Beth Rountree. In addition he also was preceded in death by a brother Neal Rountree.

Lee moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina and worked in the Security business for a number of years. While in Jacksonville Lee was an active member of the Rotary Club and the Power Squadron. He later would retire to San Diego, California and would move back to North Carolina as his health declined.

Survivors include his daughter Kristen Rountree O’Brien and Wesley of Kernersville; son William Alexander Rountree and Michelle of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Pierce, Emma, Liam, and Finley; sister Lois Rountree and Tony; brother Paul Rountree; and a host of extended nieces, nephews, and family.

The family will visit with friends from 10:00AM until time for the service in the Chapel on Saturday. Friends are also invited to the home of Wesley and Kristen O’Brien immediately following the service.
